Conversationalist Ed Hoffman explores the world of art, antiques, music and film -academically, commercially and from the artists’ and collectors’ perspectives with an aim to provide you with a three-dimensional view of the world of art-those who make it, collect it, sell it and teach it. His interesting show features interviews with interesting, accomplished guests from worlds that are, for many of us, the essence of our lives, what sustain us though the working-week to our private moments. So, grab your favorite adult beverage, sit back in your overstuffed chair, relax and enjoy.
Our second podcast features Ann Arbor’s own Ken Fischer, President of the University Musical Society for thirty years until his retirement in 2017. In 2019, he was awarded an honorary doctorate of fine arts from the University of Michigan. His organization, UMS (the University Musical Society of the University of Michigan) was selected as one of the 2014 recipients of the National Medal of Arts, the nation’s highest public artistic honor, awarded annually at the White House by the President of the United States to those who have “demonstrated a lifetime of creative excellence,” according to the National Endowment for the Arts, which oversees the selection process. UMS president Ken Fischer and staff received the award on behalf of Ann Arbor’s own performing arts presenter.
